Detroit Moves Returns for Sixth Year to Showcase Motor City’s Global Leadership in Equitable, Accessible, and Sustainable Transportation

Updated: Oct 16

This year’s Detroit Moves Forum, hosted at Newlab at Michigan Central, will feature a day of thoughtful discussion and collaboration, connecting industry and community with the world-changing transportation innovations incubating in Detroit.

Detroit Moves—a non-profit focused on propelling society towards equitable, sustainable, and complete mobility systems—has announced its 2025 signature event which will take place at Newlab at Michigan Central on May 1, 2025.

“Detroit Moves is a vital platform that brings industry leaders and local communities together to envision and create the future of mobility,” said Detroit Moves co-founder Vittoria Valenti-Amodeo. “It's about building bridges that connect ideas with people, driving meaningful change for a more inclusive and sustainable transportation landscape."

Launched in 2017, Detroit Moves has been inviting industry partners and the local public to experience and learn more about public transportation, autonomous and electric vehicles, infrastructure, aerial mobility, and other new forms of transportation as a way to promote public perception of the future of mobility and showcase Detroit as a leading mobility innovation hub. In 2024, Detroit Moves featured key private and public sector stakeholders—including the State of Michigan’s Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist II and the City of Detroit’s Mayor Mike Duggan—as well as the local community for discussions on equitable mobility solutions, alternative fuels, workforce development, multimodal transportation, and regional transit among other timely and pressing topics important to the region.

“Detroit’s reputation as a hub for mobility technology is well-established, but Detroit Moves highlights our commitment to ensuring that innovation serves everyone,” said Katelyn Davis, Detroit Moves co-founder. “Detroit Moves underscores the importance of putting community and accessibility at the forefront of our efforts to shape a more inclusive future for mobility."

For the third year, the Detroit Moves Forum will be hosted at Newlab at Michigan Central.

“Newlab is dedicated to empowering the next wave of innovators by providing state-of-the-art resources, mentorship, and access to a diverse network of collaborators. From startups addressing complex global issues to companies driving new opportunities within Detroit, we are united by a common goal: transforming bold ideas into solutions that shape the critical needs of the future,” said Andrea Hicks, Director of Community, Newlab. “This goes beyond immediate impact—it's about laying the groundwork for Detroit to become a thriving hub of technological innovation and sustained economic growth. We’re thrilled to welcome Detroit Moves for the third year in a row to Newlab at Michigan Central, further fueling the city’s momentum as a leader in mobility and innovation.”

Tickets for the Detroit Moves Forum will be available in 2025. Organizations interested in sponsoring and/or exhibiting can reach out to info@detroitmoves.com for more information.
